About
Taxation is a fascinating subject. I’m passionate about it, and can talk for hours about it. Most peoples’ eyes glaze over after five minutes, but I enjoy the intricacies and complexities of the subject.
During tax season I supplement my income working casually as a tax preparer for one of the big taxation firms. You see their shopfronts in every suburb, most of them open only from July to October, the taxation season.
Most people who come to us don’t know much about tax at all. It’s a pity, as a little bit of knowledge can often help them get a much better return. My blog here is to help you learn some things that may increase the size of your return.
Who am I outside of that? Most of my income is derived from trading shares. I trade from home. It’s an income, although not as lucrative as you read in the papers, and some years are better than others. I also have rental property investments. As you can imagine, I am very aware of how the tax system treats investments. I also do my own BAS, and also help out with my brother’s BAS (he’s a builder); not to mention looking very carefully at his annual return. All good grist for the tax mill.
